Recently on The Project on Channel 10, they did a segment on the increase in crafting as a result of lockdown. Many people have taken up new crafts, others have rekindled passion for crafts they use to do.
Crafts such as knitting, crochet, painting, drawing and even scrapbooking and card making are amongst the crafts that are getting people through lockdown, being confined to homes and life's uncertainty. Craft is saving peoples sanity in these unprecedented times.
This prompted us to do a little research of our own and we found that there a multiple health benefits to crafting and indeed of both scrapbooking and card making. Today I am sharing three of these benefits.
HELPS YOU TO RELAX:
Scrapbooking and card making relax your mind and body and are akin to a form of meditation that allows you to forget the everyday demands of life. They relax the brain, the mind, and the body.
EASES STRESS:
When focusing on your crafts you forget your stress and worries. Crafting regulates your stress hormones. You also get a sense of pride and accomplishment when you finish a project.
INCREASES HAPPINESS:
Crafting has been proven to increase happiness and has positive effects on both physical and mental health. It is an outlet for self-expression and can even be a way to build like-minded communities and form friendships.
So there you have it, why not embark on a few hours of guilt free crafting today - for health reasons of course!

Absolutely, if it wasn’t for card making and joining wonderful card making groups I would never have got through an extremely difficult time in my life. I made cards at least 10hrs a day for many, many months for charities to raise funds. No stress, and a sense of accomplishment.
