5 Tips For Scrapbooking Vintage Photos

Vintage photos hold treasured memories so scrapbooking them is the perfect way to preserve those memories for generations to come.

Here are 5 tips for scrapbooking these precious photos.

SIMPLICTY
Keep your layout simple.  Choose a minimalist background sheet, no bold prints or bright colours. You do not want colours and patterns to overpower your page, you want the photo to be the focal point.

COLOURS
Complement the vintage photos with neutral colours such as browns, tans and creams. You can add a little bit of accent colour to your layout but ensure that the tones are not too overpowering.

FONTS
Use vintage style fonts rather than modern fonts to keep your layout authentic.  It is also a good idea to keep journaling to a minimum so as not to distract from the photo.  Just ensure that you include the most important details such as who it is in the photo, where the photo was taken and when it was taken.

EMBELLISHMENTS
A lovely touch is to use embellishments such as vintage lace, old cards and postage stamps or even handwritten recipes. These will add a beautiful touch to the layout.

AUTHENTICITY
You will want to keep your layout authentic so ensure that you do not bring in elements of the modern day.  For example, if you are scrapbooking old photos of children playing use stickers or embellishments that would reflect the toys of the time.

Following these tips will ensure that your vintage photos are beautifully cared for and will allow future generations to step back in time when they look through your gorgeous vintage albums.
